Final Food Truck Thursdays & Family Night Out In Ravinia District
The Ravinia District of Highland Park is recognized as the North Shore ‘go-to’ hot spot on Thursday nights for its immensely popular Food Truck Thursdays. There is still time to see what all the buzz is about and enjoy the fabulous food and live music at the season finale on Thursday September 12 from 4:30 PM – dusk, with live music starting at 5:30 in Jens Jensen Park at the corner of Roger Williams Ave. and Dean Ave.
In conjunction with the final Food Truck Thursdays, Ravinia District will also feature Highland Park Bank & Trust’s Family Night Out on September 12 from 4 - 7 PM in Brown Park at the southeast corner of Burton and Roger Williams Avenues. The family event will include a bounce house, petting zoo, pony rides, food, refreshments and more. “In its third year, Food Truck Thursdays is now a summer staple in the Ravinia District bringing out crowds to enjoy the live music, great food, and our inaugural Bags League in a family friendly atmosphere,” said Katie Wiswald, Chair of the Ravinia Business District Association and Vice President at Highland Park Bank & Trust. “We love being a part of the fun with our Family Night Out as the season ends and fall approaches.”
The fun will return in 2020 with additional vendors, entertainment and Bags League. Each Thursday more than a dozen food trucks visit Dean Avenue, that cater to a dining culture that brings the family out to enjoy everything from standard kid-friendly fare to the more out-of-the-box fusion and gourmet creations. Adult beverages are available from locals including Abigail’s American Bistro and Ravinia Brewing Company. Family-friendly crafts and activities in Jens Jensen Park, as well as a Bags League, add to the fun.
The public is encouraged to walk, or bike along the enhanced Green Bay Trail - Robert McClory Bike Trail that leads into the charming Ravinia District, ride the Metra north or south to Ravinia Station at Roger Williams in the Ravinia Business District, or take a Pace Bus. If traveling by car, Highland Park is easily accessible via north Lake Shore Drive to Sheridan Road, US 41 and 294. Exit Clavey Road east to Green Bay Road and east on Roger Williams Avenue. Free parking is available.
