The Highland Park Chamber of Commerce is seeking a strong leader for the role of President & CEO.  At the heart of this position is a sincere passion for community vitality – someone who truly supports “local” and understands that we are stronger together.
One of the best parts of this job is the people.  You’ll establish relationships with a community of businesses and residents who come together for each other, and you’ll be working with a dedicated board of directors who are deeply supportive of the Chamber and the CEO.

Position Summary
The President & CEO of the Highland Park Chamber of Commerce provides the leadership, direction, and management for all aspects of Chamber operations and is responsible for seeing that the strategic initiatives and policies of the Chamber Board of Directors are effectively implemented.  The CEO serves as the principal advocate and spokesperson for the Chamber. Specifically, the CEO is responsible for the following essential functions:
 
Strategic and Operational Planning: In conjunction with the Board and staff, devise and implement a strategic plan and annual program of work to advance the Chamber’s mission.
Board Relations: The CEO provides counsel to the Board and committees regarding public policy, financials, programs, events, and other key initiatives.  Work within the Board Development Committee to identify potential new board members, and coordinate the nomination process and annual board orientation.
Business Advocacy & Public Affairs: Manage the Chamber’s business advocacy efforts with local, regional, state, and federal government bodies to achieve desired outcomes. Leverage and maximize the Chamber’s influence through relationships with government officials.
Membership: Ensure that a membership plan/structure is in place with a compelling value proposition to retain current members and attract prospective members. Engage with member businesses to understand their goals and challenges; seek out solutions and develop appropriate services to support members.
Events & Programming: Coordinate value-based programs and events that have a positive impact on businesses and the community. Ensure that programs/events generate sufficient revenue to support themselves and Chamber operations.
Marketing & Communications: Oversee a marketing and communications plan that builds awareness of the Chamber’s mission, programs, and impact, utilizing print and digital (web, social media, email) to inform all stakeholders. Oversee the publication of the annual Discover Highland Park Magazine.
Community & External Relationships: Develop strategic partnerships that share common priorities and help drive the Chamber’s mission forward. Represent the Chamber at appropriate local, regional, state, and national events and associations.
Staffing: Oversee all staff activities of the Highland Park Chamber including recruitment, training, hiring, evaluation, promotion, and dismissal. Provide opportunities for staff professional growth.
Administration: Assure the organization’s compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and maintain organizational records. Update internal documents, policies, and procedures on a regular basis. Prepare and implement an annual budget and coordinate expenditures consistent with the budget.

Education, Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher)
  • 3 – 5 Years relevant experience. Experience in a leadership or management-level role, non-profit or association management a plus
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google docs
 
The position involves working standard business hours as well as occasional time before and after office hours. A competitive salary and benefits are offered.
