Feeling Lucky?

Feeling Lucky?

Feeling Lucky?

What is the biggest indicator of success? Hard work. Perseverance. Passion. Or, is it luck? Science says luck does play a role in determining success. In his insightful article for Inc. Magazine, Jeff Haden writes that, “…luck definitely plays a role. But so does what you do with it, and whether you try to create your own luck, because you can. Here’s how.”

  1. Meet more people – “Like many things, it’s a numbers game. You can’t luck into meeting the right person unless you meet a lot of people.”
  2. Try more things – “Most successful people…were willing to try something new and learn from what did and didn’t work. Try things. Then try more things.”
  3. Try more ‘off course’ things – “The only way to achieve differently is to do differently.”
  4. Ask – “No one can say yes unless you ask.”
For the complete read, see LUCKY. And, if you’d like to start creating your own luck, come meet some new people, try something new, and start asking nicely. Take some of the opportunities the Chamber offers to help you build your success. As Haden says, “Because you never know where it might lead.”
